Certainly left a mark either way!

Thought she was superb in it and the fact a lot was shot with unsuspecting people made it feel so real.

It's just fucking bizarre!

Under the skin was brilliant on a number of levels. Mostly it wasnt a silly hollywood movie.

Re: The Pancho Film Thread 2014...
I'd say Under the skin is one of the best films I've seen in years. I couldn't stop thinking about it for ages. The bit with the dog and family on the beach with the baby really, really upset me.

Strange to think that the director is is the same bloke who wrote and directed another of my favourite films, Sexy Beast.

I'm so glad I saw Under The Skin at the cinema as there was no opportunity for my missus to get bored with it or do her 'can you pause it for a minute? I want to go to the toilet/get a drink/empty the washing machine' old bollocks.

You need to watch it all the way through. I thought at the time 'what the fuck was that all about?' but it's a film that creeps up on you after you've seen it. I didn't find it pretentious at all but we all have different ideas what is and isn't.

I like weird films too but I just didn't enjoy it. it was a bit too slow paced for me and there was not enough shots of her tits

Re: The Pancho Film Thread 2014...
Mike, yeah, that's the one.

Tbh a fair few films I like could easily be labelled pretentious, but to me that under the skin just seemed to be the same theme, repeated again and again, in the dark and/or rain, with a lot of unintentional gurning thrown in. Gave up on it.

is that the one where johannson picks up various fellas and takes them back to a flat/apartment and then it gets very pretentious?

I could only get halfway through it - it made Eraserhead look like an upbeat comedy.

Wish I Was Here was good - some great performances but Zach Braff is fast becoming a fucking smug prick.

So bored of superhero movies - same old shit. But Captain America 2 was quality!

Aussie films are generally great these days.

Recently I saw The Rover which is a great film kind of in the vein of Mad Max. Set in the scary old outback after 'the fall'. Quite upsetting if you love dogs because people are starting to eat them rather than starve but a great ending (if you get it).

Also another great Aussie film is Felony, about a drunk policeman who runs a kid over in the middle of the night.

Both great films doing the rounds on XBMC sites currently.

This new Aussie horror flick "The Babadook" is getting rave reviews. 95% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment.

Sold, it got a one night only at cinemas nationwide thing a couple weeks back - it's on one of the pay per view things now.

It's 'ok', lot of work gone into it, with the sets etc, but the overall storyline isn't all that.
